Design Engineer - Electromechanical

This role will support engineering design and development activities.


Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support the engineering activities for large scale product development programs by investigating feasibility, performing design using 3-D modeling software, conduct layout review and 2D drawing creation. 
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems independently or with minimal guidance.  
  • Create part specification requirements and BOM. 
  • Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers.  
  • Perform cost analysis, strength calculations and material selection.  
  • Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes.  
  • Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs 
  • Travel to client sites required.


Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years industry experience developing Electromechanical systems
  • Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechatronics, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
  • Experience using 3-D modeling software Solidworks is required and good to have  CATIA V5 or V6 skills.
  • Experience in Medical / Automotive domain developing and designing various electromechanical systems  is required.
  • Strong understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) for plastics and sheet metal components is required.
  • Ability to identify components and evaluate technical requirements considering packaging, DFM and costs at a system level is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS office.
