Manufacturing Equipment and Tooling Engineer

Manufacturing Tooling and Equipment Engineering is responsible for supporting current and future assembly operations with all required tools and equipment.  This role is part of the Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance Department for Truck Cab and Vehicle Assembly facility. This department is responsible for assembly process development, tooling development and maintenance, Industrial and product change management, and investigation and execution of industrial strategy for the factory.  


Responsibilities
  • Design and procure tools for cab and vehicle assembly in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, gather inputs and work as a team - fastening tools, lifting systems (crane systems and below-the-hook fixtures), material supply carts, fixtures, jigs, assembly aids, hand tools
  • Benchmark existing equipment from other client facilities and copy for use in this facility
  • Apply tooling and maintenance standards and best practices when designing, re-designing, or purchasing new equipment for cab and vehicle assembly – utilize previous learnings to maximize equipment reliability and availability
  • Active participation in new product development to give inputs on tooling solutions and interface to product – mitigate risk by developing tooling concurrently with product design.
  • Perform feasibility analyses for functional requirements; assess solutions based on cost, timelines, quality, risks, and functionality.
  • Carry out integration studies with design engineering teams to ensure manufacturability.
  • Handle change requests in accordance with the procedures in place.
  • Follow the established procedures (risk analyses, FMEA, design reviews, quality planning, handling of non-conformities, etc.) and the quality system.
  • Travel as required
  • Perform other duties as needed.


Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical preferred) 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Tooling and Equipment Engineering
  • Experience in Catia, Creo, and AutoCAD – working knowledge of 2D/3D engineering drawings is a must.
  • Knowledge of ENOVIA, Windchill or other PDM Systems.
  • Cost estimates & business case experience required.
  • Ergonomic standards and practical application required.
  • General awareness of OSHA guidelines and standards, ISO, ANSI.
  • GD&T knowledge and practical experience is required.
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in Excel, PowerBI, PowerPoint, OneNote, Word and other O365 apps.
