Student Health, Counselling and Wellbeing offers students, and staff, a range of support services including counselling, chaplaincy, student safety and health services. These services are voluntary, confidential, and professional, and reflect the diversity of our shared learning community. Student Health, Counselling and Wellbeing also provides advice to senior officers on matters relating to student safety and wellbeing.

The multi-disciplinary Student Health, Counselling and Wellbeing team are an open and welcoming group, passionate about supporting and enhancing Griffith University and its students.

Job Description

In this professional role, use your skills and experience to drive meaningful change, here’s how you’ll make it matter:

  • Provide professional counselling in response to personal concerns affecting student study and life.
  • In this short term, solution focused support, assist students to get back on track so have the best chance of success in both their personal and academic life.
  • Liaise with other staff and stakeholders within the team and department, as well as across the wider University
  • Become involved in a range of initiatives, including workshops and campaigns.
  • You will be engaging with students face to face or by telehealth - video or by phone and will have the use of a university vehicle to travel between campuses.

About you

You will also have:

  • A four-year degree or equivalent in Counselling, Social Work or other relevant area.
  • Demonstrated, high standard of competency in counselling service delivery (not necessarily with students) and at least five years of postgraduate experience in individual counselling.
  • A Blue Card, Queensland’s working with children check, is required for this position if the occupant is not a registered health practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency

If your background is with working for not for profit / government environments, this role would be ideal for you.

What we can offer
This is a fixed term (until 25 July 2025), part time (60%) position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Gold Coast campus. There is an option to work from home 1 day per week. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW 8 range $110,939 - $124,803per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $129,799 - $146,020 per annum.
