St. Edward's University of Austin, Texas invites applications for the position of Groundskeeper. The Groundskeeper perform skilled work in the care and upkeep of the University grounds including sports fields, lawns, shrubs, walkways, and drives with a minimum of supervision.
For consideration, High-school graduate or GED preferred. Minimum of one-year grounds maintenance experience, with a background in landscaping preferred. Knowledge of proper care of trees and shrubs; procedures for maintaining healthy plants; and general landscaping and grounds design. Knowledge in the operation of athletic field maintenance equipment including fairway mower, drag mat, and line striping machine. Ability to read English at the level necessary to understand job-related written materials and work orders. Must be able to operate the following equipment: mowers, edgers, chainsaws, forklift, dump truck, and tractors with implements. Must be able to use, handle, store, and dispose of chemicals used in grounds keeping in a safe and proper manner. Ability to comply with workplace guidelines and attendance requirements. Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid Texas driver's license and insurable by university carrier. Must possess the ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
