As the People Teams Data Engineer you will design, builds, and maintain the infrastructure and architecture that stores, process, and retrieve large datasets, ensuring data quality, security, and scalability.
Working closely with data professionals, business leaders, and data scientists, you will leverage data to drive excellence and support our organizational goals.
REPORTING OF THE ROLE
This role reports to the Global People Data & Analytics Director and will require the support of regional, team members to execute the data and analytics strategy.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
IN THREE MONTHS
- Partner with technical and non-technical teams to understand data and develop data pipelines with advance Azure Data Factory (Delta Live Tables, SQL/Python, Rest API) and maintain Data Warehousing/Data Lakes/Data Hubs and analytical reporting environment
- Design table structures and define ETL strategy to build performant Data solutions that are reliable and scalable in a growing data ecosystem
IN SIX MONTHS
- Develop and maintain data pipeline routines using ETL and orchestration tools (such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Data Stage, Airflow, Luigi, and Jenkins)
IN 12 MONTHS
- Develop automated processes, optimize data delivery, understand when to re-design architecture for greater scalability
- Develop data quality checks for source and target data sets and UAT plans and conduct QA.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE
- Design, build, and maintain large-scale data systems, including data warehouses, lakes, and pipelines.
- Develop and implement data infrastructure, such as databases, data processing frameworks, and data storage solutions.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security, and develop data governance policies and procedures.
- Work with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and develop solutions to meet their needs.
- Develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data from various sources.
- Optimize data systems for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional people teams, regional and business leads.
- Stay up-to-date with new technologies and tools in the field of data engineering.
- Develop and maintain documentation and best practices for data engineering.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data system issues and errors.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Certified Data Engineer (CDE) or equivalent certifications would be a plus.
- Programming languages: Java, Python, Scala, SQL
- Data technologies: Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Pig, Presto
- Data storage: Relational databases, NoSQL databases, data warehouses
- Data processing: ETL, data pipelines, data streaming
- Cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, Azure
- Data governance and security
- Data modeling and architecture
- Agile development methodology
- 5+ years in data engineering, software engineering, or related field
- Experience with large-scale data systems and big data technologies
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms and services
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, or Scala
- Experience with data governance, security, and quality control
- Strong collaboration and communication skills

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $75,000 to $180,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
