Summary of Responsibilities:

The Senior Analyst working for the Global Trade Finance team at BBVA New York will assist the GTF Product Specialists with the following:

Origination of US Dollar Global Trade Finance and Working Capital transactions primarily with our US and Latam Global Clients, as well as US subsidiaries of our Global Clients
Negotiation of credit agreements, revising of drafts, promissory notes, letters of credit, and other documents
Structuring of different trade finance products, including SBLC’s, forfaiting, receivable financing,
Funding support to BBVA's Latin American banking network
Various internal reporting duties, such as pipeline and P&L management, among others

Level of Complexity and Risk Involved:
The Senior Analyst needs to be able to assist the GTF Product Specialists in all matters relating to origination, structuring and negotiation of trade finance transactions. The Senior Analyst needs to be a self-starter and develop the skills, over time, to independently resolve all issues relating to the closing of a transaction. Furthermore, the Senior Associate has to conduct independent research and provide the GTF Product Specialists with up-to-date information on corporate risk.

The Senior Analyst’s main goal is to contribute to the team’s efforts to meet its budgetary objectives while providing high quality service to the Bank’s clients, as well as focusing on ways to improve processes and procedures.

Major/Essential Job Duties:

Scope of Duties:
The Senior Analyst will assist in the management of a multi-billion-dollar portfolio and help to improve the credit quality and profitability.

The Senior Analyst will actively participate in a number of diverse projects that will increase the team’s efficiency and offer better control and higher profits.

The Senior Analyst will independently initiate and conduct research on corporate and industry sectors in order to evaluate risk factors, anticipate potential problems and coordinate information flow with other units of the Bank.

Assist in establishing and managing client relationships with the US and Latin America
Assist in evaluating business opportunities, putting together tailor-made structures and preparing internal proposals under the GTF application model
Coordinate closing procedures with treasury and operations team (HUB), including fixing funding rates, completing documentation and compliance requirements
Participate in the team’s marketing activities by preparing marketing material, including presentations, for our clients as well as statistics for internal purposes
Maintain a strict portfolio management control; interact with business development units for reporting purposes
Maintain direct contact with our affiliated banks for support of funding needs
Assist in product development and creation of alternative structures
Conduct independent research on corporate and industry sectors
Assist with and manage internal reports, such as pipeline and P&L

Additional Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

Skills, knowledge, abilities/competencies:

Technical Skills:
Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field
Minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in Banking or related field with exposure to cross-border markets and products
Intermediate knowledge in international banking, world economy and financial systems
Fluent in English and proficiency in written and spoken Spanish
Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet search engines; Reuters and Bloomberg a plus

Performance Skills:
Self-starter with the ability to work remotely
Ability to multitask and work under pressure
Good analytical and communication skills
Creative thinking with attention to detail
Team player


With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $95,000 -$105,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
