Home Collection Designer & Product Developer

Reporting directly to the Senior Director Jewellery, the Home Collection Designer & Product Developer will oversee the development of all design and product development activities for Guess Home Collections.

He/she will be responsible for the design of new collections and the development/planning of its products throughout their lifecycle, including gathering and prioritizing product requirements, working closely with Sales and Marketing teams and ensuring revenue and customer satisfaction.

The role will also ensure that the product supports the business’ overall strategy and goals.

 

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Design

  • Create and present design mood-boards and colour charts for each season
  • Develop new Guess Home products/concepts that are consistent with the business strategy, considering trend research and internal collection analysis
  • Execute designs that meet business goals
  • Create designs through sketching/rendering, developing technical drawings to meet business objectives of Guess
  • Create drawings, technical sheets, graphics and seasonal look-books
  • Ensure that all design deadlines are met as needed based on the calendar
  • Ensure that the proper interpretation of designs is executed into actual samples
  • Review calendar and make sure deadlines are respected, reminding involved parties
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Participate to exhibitions, fashion shows, and technical presentations
  • Visit manufacturers or trade shows, and market research
  • Communicate with factories in order to provide comments homeware products

 

Product Development

  • Provide technical drawings to factories within a defined calendar
  • Identify suppliers, materials and production processes of homeware products
  • Maintain a clear calendar to ensure that all sample deadlines are met
  • Ensure that all samples are shipped and received on time
  • Assist in the sourcing of new factories as needed
  • Assist the checking of the execution of the samples, from the initial designs to the final samples
  • Assist during the creation of the specification sheets, style codes and product descriptions for all new products
  • Provide SKU analysis as needed
  • Manage costs and styles
  • Manual updating of materials, quality, specifications, etc
  • Communicate daily with factories for the samples progress and resolve product development issues
  • Support the quality control and approval of samples
  • Maintain vendor relationships and ensure financial and production goals
  • Coordination with suppliers on test reports on items in the collection
  • Work closely with the purchasing department to guarantee the proper execution of the produced collection
  • Interact with colleagues of other functions/business units in order to create synergies and to avoid overlapping actions
  • Interact with the legal department for counterfeit homeware products
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Previous experience (at least 4 or 5 years) in a similar role and field (homeware)
  • Highly creative with a clear understanding of the Guess Brand DNA
  • Strong knowledge of the product development process of homeware
  • Strong knowledge of fashion homeware and upcoming related trends
  • Fashion eye with commercial awareness 
  • Ability to draw both technical drawings and renderings/sketches
  • Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines and design calendar
  • Team player, dynamic personality, fast thinker, positive attitude and sense of urgency
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group at all levels
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-up
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Available for frequent travelling
  • Fluent English
  • Adobe Suite, Rhino or Matrix, Keyshot, Microsoft Office are preferred
