This class is responsible for providing complex clerical and legal support to legal staff. Incumbents prepare briefs and court exhibits, schedules depositions, maintains files, and may serve as lead to staff.TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
• May serve as a lead to staff to include assigning and monitoring work and... providing direction.
• Prepares and reviews various legal documents including pleadings, agendas, contracts, and subpoenas.
• Provides assistance to individuals by phone and in person.
• Maintains schedules, coordinates meetings, schedules, depositions, and court reporters, contacts witnesses, and sets appointments for attorneys in the department.
• Maintains various legal files, records, complex logs, and reports.
• Performs various other clerical duties for the legal department to include taking meeting minutes, conducting light research, and preparing cases for trial.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Training and Experience (positions in this class require):
• High School Diploma, or G.E.D.;
• Four years of legal support experience;
• or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Physical Requirements:
• Positions in this class require: fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
• Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met
