Position Summary

Join the HackerOne family to champion a safer internet! As a Software Engineer in our Platform Engineering team, you'll be at the heart of our engineering force, driving projects that matter and guiding our platform towards new heights of reliability, quality and performance. Our mandate is to ensure the seamless performance of all HackerOne's digital offerings, from Bug Bounty to VPN services, and beyond.

You seek leadership responsibilities, identify and spearhead new initiatives, and make systematic improvements to technical weaknesses you find in your squad’s codebase.

What You Will Do

• In your first week, you'll get your bearings, familiarize yourself with our processes, with your team and you’ll make your first code contribution.

• By the end of the first month, you'll have bonded with fellow engineers, gained a solid grasp of our systems, and started to suggest enhancements. We are the custodians of various internal tools, ensuring they run like clockwork. 

• Two months in, you'll be fully integrated into our team, leading significant projects, and connecting with the wider HackerOne organization. You’ll also have released your first feature. We are responsible for the Gateway solution, a new product integrated with a third party. This product allows companies to control and monitor any hacker activity on their (internal) assets and you’ll help make sure it is highly appreciated by our customers.

• After three months, your technical prowess will be recognized, you'll have built trust within the Engineering team, and you'll be sharing your insights at our knowledge-sharing events. From there, the path you carve is yours to define. Engage in Hack Week project, tackle a cross-team challenge, and let your innovative spirit shine.

• Overall you will be responsible for making sure our platform is scalable, well functioning and of high quality. You’ll work closely with Product Engineers, who work on customer- and hacker-facing features to make sure they are equipped with the right tools and tech to do their work.

Minimum Qualifications 

• 4+ years of Ruby on Rails experience, Javascript, GraphQL, React & PostgreSQL

• 4+ years of Datadog, Sumo Logic

• A leader who sets a positive example, spearheads technical initiatives, and garners respect from peers

• A trusted project planner, aligning priorities and documenting decisions with finesse

• An influential team player who also makes a mark on the broader Engineering and company levels

• A mentor and supporter, always advocating for architectural enhancements and engineering best practices

• Must be based remotely in the United Kingdom or Ireland. HackerOne is a digital-first company. This model offers our employees flexibility in time and location. All employees must be able to work and excel in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications 

• Cloudflare Zero Trust Services & VPN Technologies

• Amazon Web Services, GitLab, Sentry, Terraform

• Containerization knowledge & experience (Docker, Kubernetes) 

• Passionate about secure software and infrastructure, with a keen grasp of InfraSec principles
