Position DescriptionOversee pre/post award activities for a portfolio of sponsored research projects.The Portfolio Manager will report to the Assistant Director of Research Administration and provide pre and post-award research support for a number of research groups, with complex portfolios, from a wide range of federal sponsoring agencies (e.g. NSF, DoD, ARO, ONR, AFOSR, DARPA, DoE, NASA, NNSA, NIST, NIH and National Laboratories), non-federal institutions and foundations plus internal Harvard funding which consists of startup funds and gift accounts.This position manages a full life cycle, pre-award to post-award grant, review and approval of financial transactions and monthly financial monitoring and reconciliation of awards. The position also meets regularly with faculty, department staff and central staff as it pertains to award management. In addition to being part of a team of research administrators, this position required an experienced individual who can clearly communicate technical and financial information in a timely manner.Research administration entails national and international knowledge (export controls, Harvard global, foreign currency management etc.) and off-campus US research which entail working with an out-sourced payroll (Allsource). The Physics department has a considerable equipment and fabrication purchases, which can be extremely complicated. Portfolio management requires exceptional understanding, knowledge and management of capital assets (equipment policy knowledge, approvals, fabrication forms, tagging, placing equipment in-service etc.)Basic Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience• Advanced knowledge of sponsored research regulationsAdditional Qualifications And Skills• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel skills• Working knowledge of basic financial principles, budgeting, financial analysisWorking Conditions• Work is performed in an office settingAdditional InformationWe invite individuals with diverse backgrounds, experiences and abilities to be a part of our community.All formal offers will be made by FAS Human ResourcesWe are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.Work Format DetailsThis is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts.
