Team profile

The Finance team sit at the heart of the business, responsible for managing the financials for Hayfin. Under an umbrella of corporate, tax and treasury, the Finance team are geographically located to best service Hayfin across all its jurisdictions.

Role description

This role forms part of our summer internship programme and will offer you the opportunity to be part of a global, international team located across London and Luxembourg. You will be part of the team which assists fund finance.

In this role you will be responsible for (some/all of these will be covered during the role placement):

Fund Finance:

  • Reviewing of the monthly/quarterly Net Asset Values (NAVs), investor reporting requirements completed by the third-party Fund Administrators.
  • Reviewing Investor Drawdown/Distribution notices.
  • Reconciling of intra month profit and loss (P&L) and performance metrics for internal reporting.
  • Liaising with third party service providers such as Fund Administrators, FX counterparties, Auditors, Alternative Investment Fund Managers (AIFMs) in the UK, Luxembourg & the US.
  • Liaising closely with internal and external operations team to ensure accurate portfolio data is recorded internally & externally.
  • Assisting in the adherence of the Funds Foreign Exchange (FX) Hedging policy.
  • Annual financial reporting: liaising with the fund auditors as part of the year end reporting process, including review of the annual financial statements.
  • Assisting in preparation of underlying assets valuations and liaise with Valuation Committee members on a quarterly cycle.
  • Assisting Investor reporting with timely query resolution.
  • Assisting on the Solvency II reporting in coordination with the Fund Administrators.
  • Maintaining financial processes in line with best practice, add value where possible and work closely with Risk, Legal and Compliance teams to determine and implement procedures in response to new regulations.
  • Enhancing current control processes, including the use of systems to automate and streamline procedures, and maintain procedures documentation accordingly.

Skills/capabilities

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a proven track record of working in Finance/finance type role would be desirable. Demonstrates how this role will support their ongoing career aspirations of working in Finance.
  • Demonstrates a strong academic background. You will be proactive, able to work on your own, managing data, able to present findings back to supervisor/others across the team.
  • Demonstrates an interest in accounting, financial accounting, working as part of a finance team.
  • Has a proven track record of using MS Office products, especially proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Communicates fluently in English, both verbally and written.
