SUMMARY
The Head of Distribution (Retail / North America) will be a key member of the Global Distribution Team, a dedicated, global function responsible for enhancing Axis Insurance’s North American Retail Strategy, enhancing relationships, identifying new opportunities, and driving strategic engagement. Reporting to the Global Head of Distribution, this role will work closely with the US Retail Leadership Team and Business Unit Leaders, aligning strategy, engagement, and connectivity across the US/Canadian Market, assisting in the design and execution of AXIS’ go to market strategy, helping build/enhance value propositions, branding, marketing, and social media platforms to elevate AXIS’ brand in the North American Market.
The successful candidate will be proactive in building relationships with Brokers at all levels – (Senior Executives and Key Brokers, Producers and Client Executives) , comfortable connecting contacts to appropriate AXIS resources, and engaging across AXIS (Insurance/Reinsurance) in a collaborative manner – in order to develop new business opportunities, initiatives and solutions and support our global trading relationships across Insurance/Reinsurance In this respect, the candidate will design and execute on a strategy to enhance our broker relationships to deliver profitable growth.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Developing/enhancing AXIS’ overall Retail strategy and key priorities by Broker in alignment with underwriting appetite and ambitions;
  • Developing an in depth understanding of Retail Brokers and key individuals for different Lines of Business and opportunities/initiatives;
  • Building and managing productive relationships, including connecting AXIS colleagues as key owners, as appropriate (contact mapping);
  • Working with the underwriting community and across all Axis functions to drive growth, optimize our portfolio and generate new opportunities;
  • Keeping abreast and informed on market and industry evolutions and identify opportunities to proactively offer solutions;
  • Interfacing regularly with C-Suite stakeholders and other key decision makers externally and internally.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
  • College degree or equivalent work experience;
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience with at least three (3) years in an external producer facing business development role within the insurance industry;
  • Experience in building/supporting dynamic businesses, with knowledge of the US/Canadian Retail landscape, and long-standing executive level relationships with the US/Canadian Retail Brokers is preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of time.

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $255,000 to $330,000 (NY). The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location.
