Due to continuing growth and development of Merlin’s attractions and brands on a global scale, we are looking for a Head of Social and Digital Content **North America to join our Marketing team.

About the Role
We are looking for a Head of Social and Digitial Content who will develop, embed and lead execution of an industry leading social media strategy that reaches and engages new audiences through editorial content and delights current guests through record engagement. Compensation for this opportunity starts at $100K/year (rate is dependent upon skills and experience related to this opportunity).

About the Job
Key Objectives:

  • To set up a cross functional and matrixed social and digital content team, setting direction, scaling best practice and working through teams on the ground based in theme parks or attractions to get editorial content that will reach millions weekly
  • To provide editorial direction for social media activity across all pre -existing social accounts and identifying areas for development and opportunities to adopt new approaches and ideas.
  • To establish editorial best practice for Merlin’s social presences and lead the adoption of these practices to teams across the US
  • To provide leadership around innovation and data projects; evolving Merlin’s relationship with customers and integrating the use of new social platforms and technologies.
  • To identify new audience behavior and translate this into recommendations for teams working across social.
  • To lead the adoption and best use of social media tools across the organization.
  • To Implement best practice with analytics, content optimization and community management.
  • To help manage relationships with key partners externally such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat TikTok and YouTube.

Planning and operations:

  • To lead the annual and tri annual planning process for social content and ensure smooth integration of business priorities with editorial social always on content
  • To monitor performance across all social media activity and report monthly on social learnings scaling best practice

Team Management:

  • To line manage the Social Media editors in attractions and oversee all teams who create social content in agencies and in marketing or PR.
  • To lead social media teams through technical change, changing strategic requirements and different ways of working.

About You

  • The ideal candidate will be a digital media native who lives and breathes social first content. You’ll have a proven track record of growing significant social media communities either in a social first editorial publisher or in a more traditional entertainment provider where you grew their digital offering reaching millions weekly consistently over a number of years
  • You’ll have 8+ years of big brand social media experience and be an established networker in the social media space who is able to engage and influence creative individuals.
  • You’ll have experience developing and implementing an always on social media strategy alongside campaigns with hard business KPIS within a large-scale organization with different genres of content and be able to demonstrate an impressive track record of creative achievement
  • Expertise in TikTok, Instagram and YouTube preferential as they are key platforms to grow and deep understanding of analytics and how to judge success.
  • You will possess excellent editorial judgement, accuracy and sensitivity and understanding of what it means to be a social first editor
  • You will have experience of working with new and emerging technologies and tools to develop social media content.
  • The successful candidate will possess strong leadership and management skills, ideally with previous experience managing a creative team and be confident in developing and maintaining relationships with senior stakeholders.
