The Opportunity

The Head of Student Services is responsible for the overall functioning and performance of the Student Services team, providing day-to-day leadership and direction regarding policies, practices, student health insurance, and operations in the student experience; and other areas defined in collaboration with the Director of Operations. The Head will create a vision for the Student Services team and lead diverse programming related to student health and wellness, student life enrichment, global rotation, onboarding, orientation, graduation, and the execution of anchor events. Similarly, this individual will be an advocate globally within Hult for the Department, working closely with his or her counterparts at other campuses to ensure global consistency across all campuses. The Head of Student Services will be expected to work with a wide range of internal and external colleagues and Hult and act as a point of expertise in student life, life in San Francisco, health insurance, and additional administrative areas. This position involves a great deal of interaction with international students, and cultural sensitivity and a keen interest in student support is crucial.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and acts as part of the Student Services team in the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring safety of students, consistency of practice and maintenance of optimum service levels.
  • Maintains budget planning in collaboration with Operations Director, project management, and execution of all campus events, including but not limited to open houses, Graduation, Orientation, Hult Prize Competitions, Winter Ball, cultural events, end-of-year- parties, club activities, and guest speakers.
  • Oversees the quality execution of all Student Services operations including events, clubs, communications and study body non-academic policies.
  • Provides leadership, analysis and advice to Hult staff in relation to policies and procedures regarding students (and services for students), including risk management.
  • Monthly assessment curation of event attendance, social media engagement, and cost spending
  • Facilitate high levels of staff communication to current and incoming students by developing strategies, creating content, and providing editorial support.
  • Take the lead on the development of student health resources, the implementation of the student health insurance plan and related policies. Ensure students are provided with resources that minimize health-related disruptions of student life or students’ ability to successfully complete their degree.
  • Navigates campus Professional Integrity Committee (PIC) complaints in collaboration with the Student Conduct Manager
  • Be the global advocate for Student Services in San Francisco and the U.S., serving in an advisory role for other departments such as Academic or Career Services, and ensuring that program, policy, and procedural decisions made on a global level comply with any and all relevant regulations.
  • Manages a team of 3-4 Student Services and Events Coordinators and student workers.
  • Manages internal and external communications channels such as the newsletter and social media campaigns
  • Drives community among students and staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of higher education administration experience
  • Staff management experience
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, presentation and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated track record of appropriate professional, ethical and collaborative behavior
  • Experience with handling confidential and sensitive information
  • High level of energy and enthusiasm to work under pressure and to prioritize requests in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Team player with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Ability to work independently, proactively recognize challenges and recommend creative solutions.
  • Highly organized and able to both plan long-term program improvements and ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly
  • Experience interacting with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff with diplomacy
  • Able to work with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, to develop and implement policies and procedures that increase efficiency and are scalable
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
