Health & Safety Officer

As a Health & Safety Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing health and safety protocols, policies, and procedures specific to our office environment.

You will work closely with employees, management, and external stakeholders to maintain a safe and compliant workplace, reducing risks and ensuring adherence to applicable regulations and best practices. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

What you’ll do

• Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures tailored to the office environment, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend necessary corrective actions
• Collaborate with department heads and managers to establish and maintain a comprehensive emergency response plan, including evacuation procedures, first aid protocols, and communication strategies
• Organize and deliver training sessions on health and safety topics, ensuring employees are aware of potential risks, prevention measures, and emergency procedures
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective measures to prevent recurrence
• Monitor the workplace environment to identify potential hazards related to ergonomics, lighting, ventilation, and general safety, recommending improvements as needed
• Stay up to date with health and safety regulations and industry best practices, making recommendations for policy and procedural updates as necessary
• Collaborate with external health and safety regulatory bodies, participating in inspections, responding to inquiries, and implementing any required changes or corrective actions
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to incidents, inspections, training sessions, and safety initiatives
• Foster a culture of safety awareness by promoting and engaging in regular communication, training, and awareness campaigns

What’s required

• Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health certifications or additional training would be a plus.
• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer or similar role, preferably in an office environment
• Thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices
• Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and incident investigation techniques
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively train and educate employees at all levels
• Ability to fluently communicate and conduct all required trainings in English language
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving, with a strong commitment to continuous improvement
