The Estates and Facilities Department at the University of Nottingham provides strategic and operational services support to the University infrastructure, buildings and landholdings. We are a large and diverse department employing approximately 1250 people and provide a wide range of services across our U.K sites.
We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety professional to lead on all matters relating to the health, safety and wellbeing of staff, consultants and third party contractors working within and on behalf of the Department. The candidate will develop and implement robust health, safety and wellbeing policy and processes, drive high standards of safety performance and awareness, and embed auditing and reporting mechanisms aligned to the principles of Plan, Do, Check, Act. They will also provide a key interface with the university’s Safety Office and support the development and implementation of University-wide safety strategy and policy.
The successful candidate will provide expert health, safety and wellbeing advice and guidance to Estates & Facilities and Faculty staff, driving high standards of safety performance across the department and will advise the Senior Management Team on the measures required to comply with statutory legislation. You will monitor the effectiveness of the department’s Health & Safety policy and processes, and will implement a programme of audits and inspections reviewing the performance of the Estates Team, contractors and other service users providing detailed reports as required.
Candidates should hold relevant broad ranging H&S certificates commensurate with the role, possess or be working towards NEBOSH Health & Safety Diploma qualification and have proven experience of managing a health and safety function in a complex property or estates environment.

This role is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are 36.25 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7 to be arranged (mainly Monday to Friday). Job share arrangements may be considered.
