Founding Infrastructure Engineer

HealthLeap helps to identify, treat, and prevent malnutrition, one of the most underdiagnosed conditions in healthcare. Also building a general-purpose platform to address a broader range of health conditions. We just raised a seed round from top-tier investors.

HealthLeap's AI platform is currently used by Cedars-Sinai to screen every admitted hospital patient daily. Following a successful hospital-wide pilot, Cedars-Sinai signed a multi-year contract with HealthLeap. HealthLeap is now profitable and has a waitlist of over 50 hospitals interested in implementing the platform. We also signed a distribution partnership with a fast-growing synergistic business.

HealthLeap is co-publishing a research paper with clinical leaders from Stanford Health, Johns Hopkins, and Cedars-Sinai. The paper is currently undergoing peer review in high-impact journals.

We’re looking for an exceptional Founding Software Engineer to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI-driven healthcare. As a key founding member of our engineering team, you will own our data-focused backend services, cloud infrastructure, and collaborate with the team on furthering DevOps. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on patient lives by building and scaling our innovative AI risk screening platform.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and secure backend systems using Python and AWS services such as ECS, DynamoDB, Redis, Envoy/App Mesh, Aurora, SQS, Lambda, S3, Glue.

• Own our early-stage infra and DevOps processes, Terraform, CI/CD, DataDog monitoring, alerting, with a focus on ensuring compliance with HIPAA and SOC2 standards.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including ML engineering, product design, and healthcare experts, to deliver high-quality software.

• Drive technical innovation and adopt best practices to enhance system performance, reliability, and maintainability.

• Contribute to the overall technical strategy and architecture of HealthLeap's platform.

• Foster a knowledge-sharing culture within the team, contributing to the growth and development of colleagues through mentorship and collaborative learning.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with deep experience in Python.

• Expertise in AWS services, including DynamoDB, ECS, networking, and security best practices, following the well-architected framework.

• Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform or similar tools.

• General familiarity with compliance requirements around security and data protection.

• Looking for an early-stage role with high ownership and impact.

Nice-to-haves:

• Startup experience, particularly in scaling early-stage products.

• Experience in driving products from zero to one.

• Familiarity with healthcare data and standards like FHIR, HL7v2.

• Interest in applying foundation models.
