Pros

I love the work life balance and the general work culture at Northrop Grumman.

Cons

Nothing specific, only what would come with working for a large corporation. But even that comes with more pros than cons in my opinion.

Northrop Grumman employees make this belief a priority. The company values are listed on the back of every employee’s badge – Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Leadership, Integrity, People, Suppliers. Integrity must characterize everything we do. We want everyone who comes in contact with us to know that we do things the right way at Northrop Grumman.

The Northrop Grumman OpenLine is available to anyone affiliated with Northrop Grumman. Individuals can seek guidance or report a suspected violation of our Standards of Business Conduct. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Since the 1930s, our company has been recognized for technical innovation and achievement, and our commitment to our employees, our customers and the communities in which we live and work. As we continue to grow and evolve, the responsibility we feel to serve our communities and help those in need grows with us. Work/Life Initiatives

At Northrop Grumman we strive to provide a work experience that enables employees to pursue meaningful careers, and rewards them for their contributions. That’s why in addition to providing competitive pay and benefits, we also offer many valuable preferred- employer programs and services.

We believe that fostering our employees overall well-being — success at work, in life and in the community — are critically important to our business.

Career Development
When employees have positive attitudes about their jobs, this satisfaction benefits their lives outside of work. With this in mind, Northrop Grumman offers career development programs that help employees build the skills necessary for professional development. An example is the LEAD1NG program, focused on leadership competency, during which company leaders and class participants teach one another through personal experiences and lessons learned. Another key to employee development is the Learning Exchange Resource Center, which provides access to many learning resources while also supporting career development planning.

Our students and entry level employees benefit from our internships and Professional Development Program, similar to what Adam describes in this video:

Helen shares her perpective as an experienced professional and what challenges and opportunties she has as an Engineering Director.

JJ, the NAVAIR Campaign Director and Navy veteran, describes the decisive advantage the C4ISR brings to the warfighter:

Community and Education Outreach
One element of Northrop Grumman’s focus on life away from the workplace is providing significant support and contributions to the communities in which our employees live. Our Corporate Citizenship programs are dedicated to human services, education, the environment and care for military personnel and veterans. The company also supports its employee volunteers who dedicate their personal time to supporting a variety of community service organizations, from tutoring students in math and science to stuffing care packages for our troops.

Corporate Responsibility
At Northrop Grumman, corporate responsibility is a key component of our business and operating strategies. We take pride in conducting our business with a broad perspective, taking into account our customers, our employees, our shareholders, the environment and communities in which we operate.

Disabilities Resources
Northrop Grumman believes in helping employees achieve their full potential and makes every effort to provide reasonable accommodations to employees with disabilities. Employees who have a disability or who have a child or other dependent with special needs require understanding, support and inclusion in the organization. The company provides an online connection to the federal government’s disability-related information and resources that include assistive technology information, special needs parenting contacts, and a host of educational resources for parents of special needs children from early intervention through college.

Employee Assistance Program
The challenge of balancing work and family is one of a number of issues that employees are able to discuss with experienced professional counselors through Northrop Grumman’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Services are free of charge, confidential and available to employees and their eligible family members 24/7. Other issues that can be addressed include eldercare concerns, parenting, chemical dependency, managing work conflicts and balancing work and life commitments.

Employee Discounts
In pursuing recreation and leisure activities outside the workplace, employees can tap the benefits of Northrop Grumman’s extensive companywide discount programs. An enterprise-wide employee discount program called Beneplace provides employees with the ability to leverage combined purchasing power at restaurants, resorts and fitness centers, clothing stores, sporting events and movie theaters and much, much more!

Financial and Retirement Support
Financial security and retirement support are key to employee satisfaction in both work and family life. Northrop Grumman employees can take advantage of a number of programs geared to helping meet financial goals: the Northrop Grumman Federal Credit Union’s banking, financing, insurance and other services, including the Homeowner Discount program; the Northrop Grumman Savings Plan; the Northrop Grumman Legal Services Plan (covering attorney consultation, will preparation, representation in traffic and small claims courts, real estate transactions and other matters); and the Northrop Grumman Retiree Medical Plan.

Flexible Work Arrangements
Northrop Grumman directly addresses the employee objective of optimizing the integration between work, family and in the community by offering flexible schedules and flexible office procedures at a number of our locations. In all cases, these arrangements must be approved by management and must support company goals, including cost effectiveness, productivity, customer service and our Green initiatives.

Health and Wellness
Promoting personal and organizational wellness leads to increased engagement in the workplace and to overall well-being. Northrop Grumman supports this notion with a comprehensive package of health care benefits that can be customized to accommodate individual circumstances. In addition, the company offers a dynamic wellness program, “Healthwaves,” that provides employees with health screenings, personal wellness assessments and coaching, educational seminars, motivational programs, an on-line health resource center and access to wellness coaching/advising. A number of our facilities have on-site fitness centers and most employees have access to fitness center discounts in their communities.

Social and Professional Networking
Employee networking initiatives add value and satisfaction to both professional and social life – and Northrop Grumman is committed to supporting such activities. One example is the Connect1NG program that focuses on welcoming and acclimating new employees into the organization. Employee Resource Groups foster professional and social networking groups aimed at helping employees build relationships, career development, sharing knowledge and giving back to the community. Additionally, a number of locations offer a broad array of employee clubs that provide employees with similar interests to network and pursue common recreational activities in a collegial environment.

In today’s competitive market, a company’s greatest advantage is its people. An inclusive workplace of people with diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives is key to Northrop Grumman’s innovation, productivity and profitability. By seeking top talent from diverse sources, we continue to ensure we have the best team of creative people to help us reach our near and long-term business goals.

Work-Life Services
In addition to the many Work-Life programs, Northrop Grumman's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) has partnered with Value Options to provide employees and their family members Work Life Services to help balance work and life commitments. Work/Life specialists are available to assist you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
