Our Hopper Technology Solutions (HTS) platform is the engine that drives travel purchases for Capital One, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Nubank, and more! HTS is growing fast and we need your help to keep accelerating... We are seeking a talented backend engineer to assist in building a new travel portal for one of our latest HTS partners. In this role, you will collaborate directly with our client to address their business needs. You’ll design and maintain multi-tenant systems and external APIs, supporting not only our current business partner but also facilitating HTS partner integrations for companies worldwide. As a member of our cross-functional team, you will collaborate with top-tier engineers, designers, and product managers to make our partner’s vision a reality. In our team, there are no sidelines. The ideal candidate is passionate about building high-quality software and takes ownership of their work. You should be adept at quickly delivering quality results and be able to differentiate between critical initial requirements and areas that can be iteratively improved. What would your day-to-day look like: • Work with a group of top-tier engineers in a low-process environment powered by trust and autonomy • Drive decisions and consensus asynchronously with thoughtful documentation • Ship fast. Learn fast. Repeat • Design and implement internal and external facing APIs to power new functionality in the HTS platform • Work directly with PMs and business partners to help define and refine our roadmap. Your voice matters. • Collaborate cross-functionally with a diverse group of people, giving and receiving feedback for growth An ideal candidate has: • 5+ years of professional full-time in software engineering with a focus on backend development • A passion for product-focused delivery rooted in ownership and stewardship • Strong communication skills that facilitate consensus across disciplines, inside and outside of an organization • Proficiency with any strongly typed language such as Scala, C#, Java, Go, Kotlin, et cetera • Experience with microservice heavy ecosystems • Experience with distributed systems and asynchronous messaging (Kafka, Azure Service Bus, Pub./Sub) • Experience working with gRPC/Protobuf • A demonstrated history of enterprise scale system design • Proficiency working in multiple cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) • Solid problem-solving and debugging skills, with the tendency to want to automate repetitive tasks to make things easier going forward. • A passion for writing testable code and testing it - Knows what to test, what not to test, and what kinds of tests matter Perks of working with us: • Well-funded and proven startup with large ambitions, competitive salary and the upsides of pre-IPO equity packages • Unlimited PTO • Carrot Cash travel stipend • Flexdesk All Access Pass AND Work-from-home stipend • Please ask us about our very generous parental leave, much above industry standards! • Entrepreneurial culture where pushing limits and taking risks is everyday business • Open communication with management and company leadership • Small, dynamic teams = massive impact • 100% employer paid medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance plans • Up to 4000$ per year in Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) • FSA/ DCA: Hopper offers pre-tax deduction for out-of-pocket expenditures for health and dependent care costs. • Access to a 401K plan • Annual maximum** is $3,200 for health care, and $5000 for dependent care. $150,000 - $350,000 a year The yearly total compensation for this senior position ranges from $150,000 to $350,000 USD. Compensation will be determined by candidates' relevant qualifications, knowledge, skills and work experience. Through HTS, any travel provider (airlines, hotels, banks, travel agencies, etc.) can integrate and seamlessly distribute Hopper’s fintech or travel inventory on their direct channels. As its first HTS partnership, the company partnered with Capital One to co-develop Capital One Travel, a new travel portal designed specifically for cardholders. Other HTS partners include Air Canada, Uber, CommBank, Nubank, Flair Airlines with many more in the pipeline.
