HR Benefits Coordinator

Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) is on a mission to discover, inspire, and train the great problem solvers of the next generation. Since 2003, we have trained hundreds of thousands of the country's top students, including nearly all the members of the US International Math Olympiad team, through our online school, in-person academies, textbooks, and online learning systems. While our primary focus has been math for most of our history, through the years we have expanded our unique problem solving curriculum into additional subjects, including language arts, science, and computer science.

We're looking for an experienced Benefits Coordinator to help support benefits at AoPS. The primary focus of work involves ensuring that the day-to-day benefit operations run smoothly. This includes, but is not limited to, open enrollment, benefit management, workers compensation, and leave of absences. As a key member of the HR Operations team, the Benefits Coordinator will work closely with HR Leadership.

Your role and responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting management's decision-making process by analyzing benefit options and predicting future costs.
  • Studying employee requirements, trends, and developments in benefits offered by other organizations to help analyze benefit programs for management
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of all federal, state, and local laws and ensuring regulatory compliance, including completing any relevant correspondence and filings.
  • Assisting with the Leave of Absence (LOA) process, including accommodation requests.
  • Helping to provide benefits communications and counseling to employees on benefits-related issues. This includes, but is not limited to, the open enrollment process.
  • Collaborate with HR Leadership and broker during Open Enrollment to assist with communication campaigns and employee questions
  • Maintaining relationships with key carriers and brokers.
  • Assisting with management of workers compensation, including annual audits.
  • Partnering proactively with payroll, finance, and other departments as needed.
  • Participating in other HR initiatives and projects, as assigned.

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, HR Management, Psychology, or similar.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in human resources.
  • Experience in Google Workspace.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dependable, with solid time-management and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and with the team.
  • Absolute integrity, sound judgment, and confidentiality.

Perks and Benefits:

This is a hybrid full-time position based at our headquarters in San Diego, CA. The full salary range for this position is 55 - 65k, with a 4% year-end bonus. Some benefits of the position include:
