General Description: 

HRL Laboratories seeks a Process Integration Engineer to join a team pursuing development of novel semiconductor and superconducting devices.  The successful candidate will use their experience and creativity to build new process integrations for prototype devices intended to operate at cryogenic temperatures.  They will interact with a broad team ranging from layout engineers and yield analysts to device modelers and quantum scientists.    


Essential Duties:

Develop integrated process flows and design experiments (DOE) for unit processing steps

Work closely with lead engineers, unit process experts, modelers, cryogenic test engineers, and layout engineers to design novel devices and perform fabrication experiments

Analyze metrology and e-test data, feeding back to process improvements

Troubleshoot and resolve process excursions and define integration solutions

Written and oral communications providing technical status updates


Required Skills: 

2-5 years’ experience processing semiconductor devices and circuits in R&D environment

Experience with materials and devices operating at cryogenic temperatures, superconductors, and rf engineering strongly preferred

Proven track record developing solutions to process development for FEOL or BEOL transistor and IC integration

Experience developing novel unit processes in ebeam/optical lithography, RIE/ICP etching, CMP, PVD, ALD, PECVD deposition

Experience developing metrology plans for CD-SEM, ellipsometry, and other in-line techniques 

Experience interacting with test engineers and device modelers towards iterative process and yield improvements

Experience with statistical analysis in standard software (e.g. python, JMP, etc.)

Ability to operate and collaborate effectively in a team environment, including obtaining results through others


Required Education: 

PhD degree in electrical engineering, material science, chemical engineering, or related science/engineering field.  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 7 or 5 years’ (respectively) industry experience over above is also acceptable.


Physical Requirements: 

Ability to work in cleanroom environment on occasion. 


Special Requirements:

U.S. citizenship

Ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance; active TS/SCI with SSBI is preferred


Compensation:

The base salary range for this full-time position is $128,900 - $157,900 + bonus + benefits.
