Role Description: Huitt-Zollars has a great full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineering (EIT) (III) at our Dallas office. The candidate will work collaborative in a team environment supporting project managers with a variety of civil engineering projects for our Public Works group. This position has significant growth opportunities for the right candidate. The EIT will work directly with a Professional Engineer to develop professional technical expertise and knowledge necessary to fulfill the experience requirement for licensure as a Professional Engineer.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)

Duties: 

• Serve as an Engineer in Training providing technical support in the design and development of civil engineering projects from design schematics, construction plans, specifications and estimates.
• Work and coordinate with professional engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Review shop drawings, perform field observations, and facilitate the construction administration.
• Support project proposals, scopes, budgets, and manage execution and tracking of projects.
• Support in the completion of projects within client specifications, budgets and schedules.
• Coordinate online meetings, preparation of meeting agendas, and distribution of meeting.
• Will work on all types of projects, but the focus will be on Public Works projects.  This will include design development from concept design phase through completion of construction documents.  
• Projects will include but not be limited to grading, floodplain mitigation, drainage, drainage detention, paving, and utilities. The individual will be coordinating with other disciplines within HZI and well as sub-consultants including Architecture, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, etc. throughout the design phase.

• Assist with appropriate administrative and project support tasks supporting the needs of the project team and office. 
• Complete assignments on-time, within budget, and with highest level of quality. 
• Routinely proposes and produces more effective ways to accomplish assignments. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
• 3-4 years’ related experience.
• Registers Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or working towards an EIT.
• Ability to use HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GIS, Civil 3D, Microstation, Storm Cad and CivilStorm Drainage tools.
• Proficient in MS Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Capability to utilize Microstation, AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Good Communication Skills.
• Works well in a Team Environment.
• Thorough attention to detail.
• Strong knowledge of construction means, methods and techniques.
• Ability to prepare civil engineering documents and specifications for projects.

Physical Requirements:

• Sedentary work that requires prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
