Anglo American Steelmaking Coal
Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.


Job Description


We are seeking an experienced Human Resources (HR) Coordinator for our Moranbah North operations. This fast paced and dynamic position is based on site, where you will provide business partner and provide advice to the leaders and employees of the operation. You will provide support and influence across the operation to develop a flexible, accountable, and continually learning workforce.

Reporting to the HR Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring a full service and best-practice people focused business plan that delivers exceptional HR partnerships with our key stakeholders.

Your role will focus on on-going workforce analytics and monitoring of employment practices on site. You will play a pivotal role in driving the delivery of the operation’s performance management program, governance of systems, processes and data management, employment relations, attraction and retention programs, recruitment practices. You will work closely with line managers and senior leaders in the delivery of the HR business plan.

The role will be rewarding and varied and will involve the following:

  • Work closely with the HR Manager by supporting strategic and tactical plans to support specific identified short term and long term business goals.
  • Contribute to and ensure effective implementation of HR policies, procedures, initiatives, and programs at the operation.
  • Contribute to the development of and implementation of the operation’s talent and development programs.
  • Manage and develop the performance of the team in line with Anglo American’s performance management system and company values, in order to achieve objectives.
  • Support with advice across a broad spectrum of areas including recruitment, employee relations, payroll, HR metrics, and personal development.
  • Provide analysis of monthly management reports to Site Leadership team and recommended focus areas in addition to ongoing analysis of performance indicators.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline or equivalent qualification
  • Proven experience in a HR Generalist/Business Partnership role
  • Demonstrated work experience in the mining industry would be advantageous
  • Ability to understand functionality of business systems and extract relevant data for business purposes
  • Knowledge of relevant state and Australian employment legislation.
  • Employee relations and case management experience
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to influence and achieve buy in from key stakeholders
  • An intermediate level of strategic thinking, planning and problem solving ability
