Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.


Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.


Position Overview:

In this position, you will perform a variety of human resources services for the high-level waste (HLW) portion of the WTP project, which requires broad knowledge of human resources principles and practices in compliance with applicable laws and government regulations. You will function as a human resources representative supporting multiple HR programs and report to the Project HR Operations Manager.


Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full time presence in the Richland, Washington project office, then may offer part-time telework flexibility. This position works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off. Relocation is available if applicable.


Responsibilities:

  • Providing HR support on a variety of HR services such as staffing/recruitment, performance management administration, employee record processing, new employee onboarding, project orientation, etc.
  • Collecting and preparing HR data for project reports to support and track project staffing/recruitment goals.
  • Maintaining staffing/recruitment data in HRS system
  • Track and maintain project employee relocation items for individuals who relocate to the project-office/site
  • Must be able to work effectively in an extremely fast paced, high energy environment.
  • Must be flexible and willing to take on unexpected and/or unanticipated assignments as needed.
  • May receive guidance from a Sr. Human Resources Specialist or Generalist.
  • Performs other HR assignments as required.


Qualifications and Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Level One: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field with a minimum of 1 year of HR experience or 7 years of overall HR experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Level Two: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field with a minimum of 3 years of HR experience or 9 years of overall HR experience in lieu of a degree.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford Site
  • Possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Prior human resource generalist experience.
  • Prior experience in interpretation and implementation of human resource policies.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements affecting human Resources administration.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research and outlining action to be performed.
  • Skilled in the preparation and presentation of oral and written reports.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain discretion and confidentiality.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience using a Human Resources Information System such as SAP.
  • Experience with HR policies within U.S. Government company operations. #
  • Experience in multiple HR disciplines (compensation, employee relations, learning & development, staffing, etc.).
