Accounting Assistant

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join us at INSHUR! Weā€™re based in sunny Brighton ā˜€ļø (sea šŸŒŠ, chips šŸŸ, and seagulls šŸ•Šļø included), and our company embraces a hybrid working model, allowing you to thrive in both collaborative office settings and the comfort of your own home šŸ . Youā€™ll have the opportunity to work remotely while also connecting with your colleagues at our Brighton office at least once a week, fostering a dynamic and supportive environment.

Youā€™ll be working on re-inventing insurance in exciting markets across multiple territories including the UK šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§, US šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø, and the Netherlands šŸ‡³šŸ‡±, with plans to expand into new European countries.

Supported by (and reporting to) the UK Financial Controller, you'll be joining a friendly team of 12 who believe in high finance standards and continuous improvement.

What you'll do

As an Accounting Assistant youā€™ll be working on:

  • Accounts payable - processing bills
  • Accounts receivable - reconciling invoices
  • Weekly payment run
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Reimbursing employees travel & expenses
  • Management of company credit cards
  • Accruals and prepayments
  • Assist with month-end / year-end tasks
  • Assisting with ad hoc requests and the chance to get stuck into other finance projects as required

šŸŽÆ We donā€™t have a definite checklist of skills ā€“ our hiring process is much more about aptitude and passion than ticking boxes. So donā€™t worry if you havenā€™t used a particular tool or checked off all the listed skills and experience.

That said, below is a guideline of skills that we think would make you successful in this role.

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Have experience with accounts payable processes - specifically bill processing
  • Are comfortable with MS Excel
  • Can successfully maintain internal and external relationships
  • Understand that a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality is key to succeed in this role
  • Not essential but advantageous to be familiar with: Expensify / Stampli / Sage Intacct / Pleo / Cledara
