Job Description

  • Role Overview:

    The RISE (Recovery, Information, Support, and Engagement) Navigator will work within the Tennessee Department of Health to support individuals at risk for substance use and communicable diseases. This is a contract position that requires frequent travel throughout Hancock and Hawkins counties (mileage reimbursed).

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Services:

    • Conduct SUD screenings and evidence-based assessments

    • Provide solution-focused counseling and crisis intervention

    • Link clients to services including mental health, harm reduction, and primary care

    • Distribute naloxone and educational materials

  • Outreach & Education:

    • Deliver community education on drug overdose prevention, Hepatitis C, and HIV

    • Engage with non-traditional sites to reach clients

  • Partnership Development:

    • Collaborate with SSPs, ROPS, treatment providers, and other agencies

  • Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and data entry per grant/state guidelines

  • Team Involvement:

    • Participate in meetings, trainings, and case conferences

  • Minimum:

    • 18+ years of age

    • High school diploma or GED

    • 1 year of relevant experience (or equivalent academic substitution)

    • 24 months of self-directed recovery for those with lived experience

  • Preferred:

    • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field

    • Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) or willingness to obtain

    • Bilingual (Spanish/English)

  • Key Skills:

  • Knowledge of addiction recovery and harm reduction

  • Strong interpersonal and community engagement skills

  • Active listening, cultural competence, and professional boundaries

  • Microsoft Office proficiency

  • Special Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and insurance

  • Background checks and abuse registry screenings required
