About the Role:
Are you a creative problem solver who enjoys designing effective and innovative educational experiences? Are you an engaging teacher who is invested in the success of undergraduate students? As a member of the Research & Instructional Technology team in Library and Information Technology Services (LITS), the Instructional Design Specialist will make vital contributions to student success. Your central role will be providing expertise in instruction and pedagogy through an instructional design lens. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for helping students to become better researchers and critical thinkers by learning to find and understand sources, and evaluate information. We are looking for someone who will arrive with the confidence, organizational skills, and collaborative mindset needed to work across teams on complex projects while fulfilling teaching obligations, cultivating relationships among the campus community, and contributing to building a more inclusive community.
*This position and the Research and Instruction Librarian are the same FTE. We are hiring for only one of these positions and the title will be dependent on qualifications/background.*

Who You Are:
Qualified applicants will have a master’s degree in Instructional Design/Technology or related field with experience in information literacy. You should also be experienced in teaching in a higher education setting and using academic technology tools such as learning management systems, classroom technologies and e-learning authoring tools.
Additionally, you are knowledgeable about current teaching trends, pedagogies, and technologies in higher education. You are skilled at instructional design practices, including knowledge of accessibility and universal design for learning principles. You enthusiastically explore new ideas and embrace new initiatives. You are a confident communicator. You excel at managing your time, navigating complex projects, and working both independently and as part of a team. You also demonstrate an ability and willingness to support, respect and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values and point of view to build a strong and inclusive community.
