At United, we have some of the best aircraft in the world. Our Technical Operations team is full of aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help make sure they’re well taken care of and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. Starting pay of $20.18 (as per collective bargaining agreement) per hour with competitive benefits that let you see the world:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Measures and cuts carpet from stock rolls to specified dimensions or according to diagrammed instructions, using tape measure, triangle, chalk line, and hand cutting tools
  • Fabricates, assembles, reworks, and repairs plastic products, applying knowledge of working characteristics of plastics and bonding techniques, using precision instruments, hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, work orders, and related documentation to determine methods of sequence of operations and dimensional and finished specifications
  • Operates automated cutting machine to cut plastics used in aircraft parts and assemblies or manually cuts material to size, using shears, knives, cutters, scissors, router, or saw
  • Trims, drills, reams, countersinks, grinds, assembles, and finishes parts to specifications, including hardware installation, using templates, hand tools, power tools, adhesives, and paints
  • Utilizes a sewing/serging machine, serge edges to prevent fraying

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed:

  • High School diploma/GED/or education equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • 75% of the time standing
  • Frequent, repetitive hand action
  • Valid US driver's license (revoked, suspended or expired are not considered valid)
  • Must pass 10-year background check
  • Must be willing to take a pre-placement physical abilities test, hearing and vision tests, and drug screen
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be flexible to work any shift in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Candidate must be able to clear a fingerprint-based criminal history check in order to obtain and retain credentials necessary for the position. Position-specific clearances may include but are not limited to FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal service clearances
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is essential function of the position
