What will you be doing?
As a Systems Engineer, your role is pivotal in ensuring our internal IT systems provide highly available and efficient services to all teams within Orion Health.
As a Systems Engineer at Orion Health, you will:
- Work with the IT Infrastructure and Systems team on projects to design, build, and maintain systems.
- Monitor existing infrastructure and systems to proactively fix issues.
- Troubleshoot issues across the entire stack - hardware, software, application and network.
- Assist and provide technical direction to the IT support team with escalated issues. Implement, support, maintain, and manage IT infrastructure and systems, including networking and IT security.
- Monitor and work on tickets within our ticketing system.
- Take part in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
- Collaborate with the IT engineering team to deploy corporate information systems quickly and effectively, ensuring processes flow smoothly and the occurrence of outages are minimal.
- Support the variety of platforms in Orion Health, including on premise Linux and Windows servers, cloud-based IAAS and cloud-based SAAS.
What will you bring to the role?
- Experience: You have at least 3 years experience working in an IT technical support or systems administrator role. You are well-versed in Microsoft Server administration and Database administration experience (Analytics and Troubleshooting, SQL, Clustering) MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL preferred. You also have some prior experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS and Azure) and monitoring, alerting, and visualization tools. Experience with automation and deployment tools like Ansible and Terraform is a no-brainer!
- Skills: You have strong networking knowledge (Analytics and Troubleshooting, Switching, Routing, Firewall, Security). You also have exceptional knowledge of Windows Server OS and related applications, and experience with scripting (bash, Python, PowerShell,etc).
- Characteristics: You are someone who can work effectively in a cross functional team environment and has strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively in one-on-one and group settings. A can do attitude and a willingness to assist where needed.
- Education: Although having a relevant degree in an information science-related field or applicable certification is preferred, we value practical experience above all else. Demonstrating your applicable experience is key to your candidacy.
