Duties
Job Summary:
As an intern in the Equity Portfolio Management Team, you will be assisting portfolio managers with development of systematic trading strategies for US large and mid-cap stocks. You will leverage alternative data source, such as news, regulatory filings, earning transcripts etc., to identify and evaluate alphas. Additionally, you will be involved in researching innovative ideas, conducting strategy back tests, optimizing portfolios, and managing risks. This role also includes responsibilities related to data management, code development, and technology infrastructure. A strong focus on cutting-edge technologies in finance is essential.
Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist portfolio manager in managing a long-only portfolio for US large and mid-cap stocks, including researching existing alphas and adding new alphas to enhance the current framework
  • Generate innovative research ideas, evaluate and analyze current and new datasets, perform strategy back tests, optimize portfolio and implement effective risk management techniques, etc.
  • Develop and Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, manage databases, and transform legacy prototyping codes into production codes, evaluate and optimize current production codes and technology spending if needed
  • Work with technology vendors to oversee and maintain existing cloud computing infrastructures and onboard new computing capabilities (such as AWS, etc.) while ensuring smooth data integration
  • Acquire alternative data from different sources and be proficient in handling data collection, preprocessing, and analysis
  • Foster collaborative relationships with portfolio managers of TMAM USA and other investment data scientists, ensuring effective coordination and knowledge sharing

Qualifications

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and quantitative skills, with a focus on pursuing a master’s degree or above in quantitative finance, mathematics, statistics, computer science or related field
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey ideas to the team members and senior management
  • Proficiency in Python is essential, along with familiarity with database programming languages such as SQL, etc.
  • Knowledge of machine learning frameworks (e.g. scikit-learn) and experience with models such as Logistic Regression, NLP and Gradient Boosting algorithms is a plus
  • Experience working with open source libraries and distributed computing (e.g., AWS) is a plus

Salary range of $30/hr. Ultimate salary offered will be based on factors such as applicant experience and geographic location. Our company offers a competitive benefits package and bonus eligibility on top of base.
