Job Description:
Microchip’s Frequency and Timing Division is a world leader in precise time solutions and sets the world's standard for time. The company generates, distributes, and applies precise time for the communications, aerospace/defense, IT infrastructure, and metrology industries.
Microchip’s Government Systems group is seeking a Summer Intern in the Software Engineering team to contribute to R&D programs in the field of timing and communications systems.
The successful candidate must be able to work independently within a team framework to achieve technical objectives. Students who enjoy technical achievement, cooperative research, and market leading product development excel at Microchip. Our opportunity offers the chance to solve real world problems and to expand your professional skillset in a unique and fun environment.
This summer, we will be improving an internal tool used by the Operations team. It is written in Python, uses Django framework for the API and JavaScript for the GUI. You will be provided with the necessary support to ensure that you successfully complete your objectives. At the end of the summer, you will deliver a presentation that describes your project and experiences.

Requirements/Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate pursing BS/BA in Computer Science, Physics, Applied Math, or similar degree.
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week onsite during the summer at our Boulder office.
  • Experience with Unix systems and Python development
  • US Citizenship
Job Requirements:
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Django and JavaScript in a Unix environment.
  • Ability to work on existing code to make system improvements.
  • Ability to accommodate and adapt to new system requirements.
  • Familiarity with GPS concepts and embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with distributed source code management tools.
  • Mathematical background in statistics, time series analysis, filtering, outlier rejection, etc.

Pay Range:
