The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

Our innovation practice works to establish and foster a culture of innovation leveraging a design thinking centered approach to identifying and solving areas of opportunities for the organization. Proactively responding to market trends and technological advances to stay relevant with current donors and fundraisers as well as create new interesting and compelling platforms that inspire engagement and giving with new audiences.

Identifying focused innovation opportunities within our current/core fundraising campaigns and then solving the gaps to increase number of participating companies, fundraisers, and donors to drive revenue growth. As well as developing and launching new revenue streams with the potential to raise $10M annually. We are seeking an intern with a passion for and some experience with social media platforms as a means to engage and inspire fundraising. Ideal candidates will have strong attention to detail, excel in research and analysis as well as be proficient in Microsoft.

Internship Overview:

  • Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week
  • Internship Duration: 9/11/2023 – 12/8/2023
  • Remote Position
  • Salary: $23.00 per hour

Internship Outcomes:

Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to:

  • Gain important and practical job skills to be successful in a non-profit environment.
  • Opportunity to explore a career-path with a reputable voluntary health/service organization.
  • Gain experience in the professional world while learning about board management.
  • Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriches your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others.

Responsibilities

Tasks could include things like the following:

  • Expand engagement and increase revenue through emerging virtual communities and social media platforms.
  • Assist with creating and updating social media content to support fundraising activities on platforms like Facebook and Instagram
  • Assist in updating social media ad strategies and content to support fundraising initiatives.
  • Community management in Facebook Groups focused on specific challenges and fundraising.
  • Support, stewardship, and cultivation of current and former social media fundraisers and donors.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated excellence in written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
  • Proficiency with all social media platforms including Facebook groups.
  • Ability to deal professionally in a corporate or non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects and programs from inception through completion.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Basic knowledge of Canva and Adobe Creative suite.
  • Experience with Sprinklr social a plus
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
