Job Description:

The intern will be responsible for creating content for Tri-C’s social media pages with a focus on Workforce, Community & Economic Development.

The intern will:

  • Educate themselves on the Workforce, Community & Economic Development division at Tri-C by meeting with program managers and directors, faculty and staff, and reviewing website content from the WCED pages and course catalog.
  • Work with ICD’s social media manager to Identify new ideas for social media content creation. The social media platforms include: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The focus of the social media campaigns is to inform the community about WCED programs (i.e. job opportunities, requirements, pay etc.) and services and posts will primarily seek to bolster recruitment and raise awareness of WCED accomplishments and outreach.
  • Create a content calendar for workforce topics to share on Tri-C’s social media accounts, including full campaigns. This could include, but is not limited to:
    • Working with colleagues in WCED programs to create student testimonials – this could be done through text and photos and/or video. Create the template that students will use to answer questions during the testimonial interviews to ensure consistency across this campaign.
    • Working with program managers and faculty to create content that highlights new and innovative practices in the classroom.
    • Highlighting the experiential learning opportunities that students engage in while at Tri-C, and job opportunities that the student could obtain after graduation.
    • Creating creative content, whether individual posts or full campaigns, that will help WCED increase enrollment.
  • Create and disseminate surveys, forms or evaluations that will help to identify the target market of the WCED programs. Identify common traits, characteristics, etc. across specific WCED programs to identify a target market, which will help to formulate content creation for social media. Work directly with manager to determine priority need (programs, prospective students, etc.) for the target market surveys.
  • Content created will be for at least one full academic cycle rather than just during the internship duration. The intern will be responsible for creating content for that full academic cycle with a timeline that indicates when each post should be posted and on what sites.
  • Develop a podcast where current WCED students, program managers, etc. can share their thoughts and ideas on the programs at Tri-C. Specific questions and intent for each speaker will be created by the intern. The intern will be responsible for identifying speakers, scheduling a time with them to record, recording and editing the podcast. The podcasts should be distributed through social media.
  • Collaborate with the WCED Web Intern to share content and collaborate on projects.
  • The intern will work directly with Tri-C’s social media manager, Stephanie Metzger. The intern will schedule a weekly check-in meeting to share content, ideas and go over the social schedule for that week.


  • Must be currently enrolled as a Tri-C student
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Creativity. Creativity for this internship is highly valued.The intern will be relied upon to use their creativity to create the content and campaigns independently.
  • Ability to use content creation sites including things like Canva, video recording and editing software, Adobe Photoshop, etc. The intern is not expected to know all software, but they are expected to know enough to create professional-looking content including text, photos, recordings and videos.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms including what content fits with each platform, the type of content that can be posted to each platform, etc.
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Communication skills
  • Follow college brand and style guidelines when creating content for social media
