Job Description

The Office of the Inspector General is actively seeking an Investigative Support Analyst.

This position reports to the Director of Investigations and provides investigative support, analysis and research assistance for investigations. Primary responsibilities include the following:

Examples of Work

  • Conducts data analysis to identify instances of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse.
  • Works with investigators to identify and develop proactive analytical targets.
  • Contacts and interacts with complainants and COJ employees to support OIG activities.
  • Works with the Director of Investigations on special projects and assignments related to financial investigations, preparing diagrams and charts, and other special projects needed to support OIG activities.
  • Utilizes information obtained through financial analysis to prepare documentation for use by the Investigations Unit.
  • Conducts independent research in support of the Investigations Unit mission.
  • Conducts in-depth searches and analyses of social media and other online research for investigations.
  • Prepares reports, documents, and correspondence in a clear and concise manner..
  • Gathers information and organizes investigative files.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience using and gathering data from open source-on-line information resources, such as social media and public records.
  • Knowledge of and experience in advanced open-source investigative techniques such as advanced search techniques, social media monitoring, and geo-locating.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology needed to perform investigations (i.e., computer and other technical equipment).
  • Ability to conduct research.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external entities.
  • Ability to analyze data and develop charts, graphs, and diagrams for reports that accurately and succinctly capture information.
  • Ability to adjust work hours/schedule occasionally, if necessary, to meet time-critical demands of priority investigations.
  • Extreme accuracy and attention to detail.

Open Requirements/Supplemental Information

  • Bachelor's degree required. Prior experience in the fields of government, finance, or audit preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Must qualify for, obtain, and maintain a City of Jacksonville Driver Certification.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • This classification performs safety-sensitive functions and is subject to pre-employment, random, and other drug/alcohol testing programs as set forth in the City of Jacksonville's Drug Free Workplace Policy (0401).
