We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Associate, In-House Legal Counsel to play a critical role within the legal department of our growing company. This position is designed for a legal professional who can bring a wealth of knowledge, strategic insight, and expertise to our organization, that has an entrepreneurial spirit that thrives in a vibrant and scaling company. You will be reporting directly to the Head of Legal and the ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in corporate law, with a proven track record of navigating complex legal challenges and driving legal strategies that support business objectives. This role requires a high degree of autonomy, sophisticated legal acumen, and the ability to lead initiatives across the legal spectrum and different verticals in the business. We are looking for a real legal thought partner.  

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Legal Leadership:

  • Provide strategic legal guidance on a wide array of commercial and legal issues, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.
  • Represent the company and lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial and legal documentation, including client contracts with Fortune500 clients, partnership agreements, and strategic initiatives, setting high standards for legal precision, business relevance, and ensuring the company's interests are robustly protected.
  • Direct comprehensive legal analysis regarding legislative changes, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, advising on necessary actions to maintain compliance and competitive advantage.

Risk Management

  • Play a role in the company's risk and compliance strategy, working closely with external counsel to manage any legal and regulatory challenges effectively.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies across the company’s operations, providing proactive advice to prevent legal issues before they arise.

Operational Excellence and Team Leadership

  • Lead and assist on the development and optimization of legal processes, workflows, and departmental strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the legal team.
  • Mentor and develop the legal team, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and professional growth.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a key advisor and thought partner to cross-functional teams, including Operations, Finance, and HR, to ensure legal considerations are integrated into business planning and decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice law 
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of legal experience, with a significant portion in a corporate legal department or a law firm advising technology clients.
  • Demonstrated expertise in corporate law, contracts, intellectual property, compliance, and risk management.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and leadership skills, with a track record of building relationships at all levels of an organization.
  • Proven ability to lead a legal team, including managing, mentoring, and developing legal talent.
  • Experience in a technology or startup environment is highly valued, along with a flexible, innovative approach to legal problem-solving.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Working Times: US (EST or PST) Hours
  • Compensation Breakdown
    • Base: $145k
    • Target Cash Bonus: $60k 
    • Generous Equity (please see pay transparency link above) 
  • Flexible Work Schedule / Unlimited Vacation Days
  • Work Remotely
