Product Designer - iwocaPay

Mid/Senior Product Designer - iwocaPay

Hybrid in London or Leeds, UK

We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our iwocaPay team

iwocaPay provides trade credit and Buy-Now-Pay-Later (BNPL) solutions to businesses. The team works with hundreds of sellers to help thousands of buyers manage their cash flow, increase their purchasing power and operate with flexibility.

The company

Fast, flexible finance empowers small businesses to manage their cash flow better and seize opportunities - making their business and the economy stronger as a whole. At iwoca, we do just that. We help businesses get the funds they need, when they need it, often within minutes. We’ve already made several billion in funding available to more than 100,000 businesses since we launched in 2012, and positioned ourselves as a leading Fintech in Europe.

Our mission is to finance one million businesses. We’ll get there by continuing to make our finance ever more relevant and accessible to more businesses by combining cutting-edge technology, data science, and a 5-star customer service.

The team

The iwocaPay team operates as an independent start-up within a larger company, iwoca. We are growing quickly and the team now has more than 30 people, including five engineers and two product managers, as well as all the relevant operational roles. While holding ourselves to high standards, we believe in quick iteration cycles to deliver impactful features. We have a daily standup and regular offsites to make sure we work well together.

The role

As a Mid-Senior Product Designer, you’ll shape our user experience, drive design strategy, and deliver intuitive experiences for our products.

End-to-end product design

  • Develop the vision of the customer experience in iwocaPay. You’ll strive to ensure quality, coherence, and customer-centricity.

  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and designs that deliver an exceptional user experience.

  • Collaborate with the Product team and the Engineering team to shape user-centred design solutions that address user pain points and meet business goals.

  • Create and maintain the main Figma prototype demos for the sales team to use when they pitch to potential customers.

  • Encourage collaboration between different parts of the team whilst being able to be proactive in how you can work efficiently to achieve the team’s goals.

  • Help maintain reusable design components for our Design System.

User research & testing

  • Work with the data analysts and product managers to perform user research and A/B testing.

  • Use data from web analytics to iterate on design solutions.

  • Work with product managers to develop user feedback loops and conduct usability testing, to improve our customer-facing interfaces.

Optimization & Performance

  • Optimise designs for key metrics such as conversion, retention, and user satisfaction rates.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, using data and feedback to evolve design solutions that meet changing user and business needs.

Some example projects are:

  • Anticipate and overcome some scalability obstacles on the payment options page.

  • Enable a more diverse range of customers to apply for an iwocaPay account in an intuitive and frictionless way – currently only company directors can apply.

  • Make the product more attractive for offline merchants.

  • Increase repeat usage by improving the login experience.

  • Reduce perceived complexity of our fee structure to make it easy for customers to understand.

The requirements

Essential:

  • Experience working in a product design setting focussed on conversion and commercial goals.

  • A customer-first, data-driven approach to design, with a knack for balancing business needs with user empathy.

  • Experience in planning and conducting moderated and unmoderated user research studies with customers.

  • Experience working in a cross-functional team that includes product managers and engineers

  • Proficiency in design tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) with strong prototyping and interaction design skills.

  • Experience working with Product Managers and analytics data/tools to drive design decisions.

  • An understanding of A/B testing, conversion metrics, and user behaviour.

  • The ability to work autonomously and complete projects.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adjust your communication style to the audience.

Bonus:

  • Knowledge of basic concepts in front-end development, and basic familiarity with some front-end frameworks.

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders.

  • Experience working in the B2B space.

The salary

We expect to pay from £55,000 - £65,000 for this role. But, we’re open-minded, so definitely include your salary goals with your application. We routinely benchmark salaries against market rates, and run quarterly performance and salary reviews.
