Sr Manager, Business Operations

We are a remote-first company, with in-office or hybrid opportunities for candidates in the Bay Area, Buffalo, NY, or Toronto.

About the role:

2024 is an incredibly exciting year for Jerry! Since we launched our app in 2019, we have seen 40x revenue growth, amassed over 4 million customers, and expanded  to multiple different product lines. As we continue to scale, we are looking for an analytical problem-solver who can dive deep into many different areas of the business. We are looking for a Senior Manager, Business Operations to help us gather, analyze, and model high quality customer, vehicle, and historical loss data to use with our sophisticated machine learning models. Reporting directly to our VP of Business Operations and Analytics, you will work in a highly cross-functional role partnering with our senior leaders on the Product, Partnerships, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Finance teams. This role is the first of its kind at Jerry - you’ll focus on the success of our insurance partners, which drive supply in our marketplace, to allow us to become the first truly comprehensive insurance shopping platform! 

This role will play a huge part in steering Jerry towards profitability; we will be relying on you to make insights and recommendations regarding systems and tools to drive our business partners (and Jerry) towards profitable growth. You'll team up with senior operational leaders as well as external partners to execute on these ideas for managing costs, setting prices, and analyzing loss data. You’ll aim to find trends in losses and identify areas that need attention, whether it's for a specific insurance company, state, or type of claim.

Due to the large impact this player will have on the company, we need a Sr Manager of Business Operations who has high emotional intelligence, strong creative problem solving skills, and the ability to analyze situations from multiple perspectives. How you will make an impact:

  • Work closely with our insurance business partners to create recommendations to improve profitable growth, and deliver on developing the systems and tools that solve insurance partner needs.

  • Work closely with our insurance business partners teams to uncover what systems and tools Jerry can develop to assist in loss cost management, pricing recommendations, and analysis of loss data. 

  • Collaborate with marketing and data teams to consider expected loss performance in user acquisition.

  • Lead in building out systems, processes, and internal audit controls to ingest claim/loss data from all insurance business partners and guarantee data integrity. 

  • Manage building out internal reporting and analysis to understand loss trends and areas of concern on an insurance carrier, state, and characteristic level. 

  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and optimize operational efficiency.

Our ideal candidate:

  • 6+ years of experience in consulting or business operations with a Bachelor's, or 3+ years of experience in consulting or business operations post-MBA

  • Experience working in a start-up or similar fast-paced environment is preferred

  • Experience designing scalable solutions, untangling complex processes, and providing succinct, data-driven recommendations to leaders

  • Ability to create alignment and quickly get to decisions through collaboration, partnership, and influence

  • Willingness to dive into unfamiliar areas, adapt approaches as new information is learned, and incubate new ideas

  • Ability to clearly articulate information across all levels of the company, including the executive team
