About the role:

The Technical Documentation Specialist will play a crucial role in the organization by leading the development, maintenance, and coordination of technical documentation and documentation strategies. The primary objective of this role is to create, organize, maintain, and publish documentation and information resources that enable our technical audience to thrive. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Software Engineering, Product Management, and Delivery, to ensure that all technical resources meet the highest standards for accuracy, clarity, freshness, and completeness. 




Responsibilities:
  • Documentation Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive documentation strategy aligned with the company's objectives. Collaborate with software engineering teams to identify documentation needs and requirements.
  • Documentation Creation: Create and maintain technical documentation for software products, including but not limited to API documentation, code documentation, release notes, and system architecture documents. Ensure documentation adheres to industry best practices and standards for software engineering.
  • Information Gathering: Work closely with software engineers and technical experts to gather intricate technical details for accurate documentation. Conduct research and interviews to extract relevant technical insights.
  • Document Structure and Organization: Establish and maintain a structured documentation framework for software products. Implement version control and ensure all software documentation is up-to-date.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform regular reviews and audits of existing software documentation to identify and rectify inaccuracies. Ensure that documentation meets quality and compliance standards for software engineering.
  • Training and Mentorship: Provide training to software engineering team members on documentation best practices and standards.


Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of experience as a Technical Writer.
  • 4+ years of experience focused specifically on software engineering documentation.
  • Previous experience with API documentation technologies like OpenAPI, Markdown, Redocly, Stoplight, Swagger, etc.
  • Proven track record of successfully creating and maintaining software documentation for complex systems.
  • Strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with software design constructs like flowcharts, sequence diagrams, ERD, UML, etc.
  • Bonus - Familiar with AI technologies to assist in the software development and documentation life cycle.
  • Bonus - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • The expected base compensation for this role is between $110,000.00 - $120,000.00  for work performed in the United States. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include experience level, transferable skills, education, location, business needs, training, and market demands. This range may be modified in the future.
