The Opportunity
The Kenzie Coach serves learners by assisting with academic success strategies and. Primary responsibilities of this role are to support learners to become more independent, persist in their studies, and reach their goals. This role provides individual and/or group tutoring to learners across a broad range of subject matter based on their personal area of knowledge and experience. The Kenzie Coach meets with learners to clarify and review concepts, explain processes, and help learners solve specific problems. The Kenzie Coach supports demo-centered activities, and as such, the emphasis and content of the coaching sessions is determined by the learner's needs.
You Will:
Be available to assist learners during whole group learning, study halls, one-on-ones, workshops, or any other scheduled or unscheduled activities.
Recognize primary role to help learners become more confident, more successful, and self-directed learners.
Monitor the cohort's correspondence across various tools such as Slack, InScribe, Kenzie Tickets, Canvas and respond or triage learner's questions appropriately.
Become familiar with EC Council provided iLab assignments to provide help to learners.
Attend weekly check-ins with the facilitator for assigned term.
Recognize the different learning styles and student preferences.
Grade assignments such as reflection papers, reflection quizzes, discussion posts, et
Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for learners' diverse cultures, language skills, and experiences.
Participate in professional development activities to improve coaching skill and continue to grow cultural competence and reflection skills.
Utilize listening and questioning strategies as the primary coaching method to diagnose student needs and monitor progress.
Complete instruction reports on all coaching sessions, to be submitted by end of day. If working after-hours, the reports should be submitted by 12:00pm the following day.
Utilize feedback and reflection to improve practice.
Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential functions of this role.

What we are looking for:
Years of experience: Must have completed one term at Kenzie Academy with a 90% or higher or have at least six months of prior programming experience.
Degree(s): High School diploma or equivalent
Able to maintain an established schedule, ensuring attendance, punctuality, reliability, and consistent communication with managers.
Must maintain a 90% in current quarter to continue in the coaching program.
Applicants will be required to pass a skill check.
Dedicated, quiet work environment with reliable hard-wired internet access.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Comfort level with learning new online systems and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related technical field.
One year experience tutoring, working in academic support services, or teaching at the high school or collegiate level.
Experience working with teams of teaching assistants, tutors, or similar instructional staff.
One year programming experience.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
Excited to experiment with new approaches to education.
Comfortable working on a remote team via chat and video.
