Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a part-time experienced lead Software Engineer to join the Mission Networks team that provides modern, secure, reliable and resilient telecommunications networks and information management systems.

The lead Software Engineer will be part of FTI Enterprise team supporting the FAA and contribute to applications and services across a wide array of technology including Java, JavaScript, C#, .NET, web applications/services and databases. The software team supports both internal and external customers by enhancing existing applications, tools and services and resolving operational issues. The lead Software Engineer will contribute to the design, and development of computer software systems and software products for a variety of software applications, will participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and test of software products, and will work closely with cross functional members of the engineering organization to develop solutions to meet functional and non-functional requirements. The lead Software Engineer will also serve as software team mentor with strong knowledge of FTI software development and existing applications.

Essential Functions:

• Collaborate with members of the software team to define requirements, software architectures, APIs, frameworks and libraries to ensure the mission critical readiness and operations.
• Collaborate with the development team to review designs and estimates, including identifying and documenting risks, assumptions and limitations.
• Serve as a team mentor.
• Provide operational support for applications and tools to meet high availability and other SLAs, including disaster recovery activities.

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant software experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related software experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related software experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience hands-on development with high order languages (Java, C#/.NET), SQL and databases (Oracle), and thick rich clients and web applications.
• Minimum 3 years of experience deploying and supporting enterprise applications in a 24x7 operational environment.
• FAA public trust clearance.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• JavaScript, JQuery, XML, Web services (REST, SOAP) and/or similar technologies.
• Scripting languages, such as Python and Bash.
• Ability to write well designed, testable, efficient code and coach team to do the same.
• Experience verifying designs are compliant with specifications.
