Laboratory Operations Associate

23andMe is seeking a talented Laboratory Operations Associate to support the daily operations of the 23andMe Therapeutics early development laboratory. You will work closely with research scientists to manage lab equipment and support lab supply inventory.

As a Lab Ops Associate you will specialize, be primarily responsible, for either the equipment management track or the inventory management track and will be cross trained in other responsibilities, so our team can be adaptable to increased workloads in either area.

What You'll Do

  • Shipping & Receiving -
    • Perform shipping and receiving duties
  • Inventory Management -
    • Maintain and manage appropriate stock levels of common lab supply inventory
    • Order, receive and stock inventory per standard process
    • Restock lab supplies daily at Point of Use (POU) stations in the labs
  • Equipment Maintenance -
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to coordinate the installation, calibration, routine and preventative maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment
    • Perform basic maintenance, cleaning, troubleshooting, minor repairs on lab equipment
    • Document and manage equipment records, such as warranties, maintenance/calibration schedules and service contracts
    • Monitor equipment usage and capacity
  • Labware cleaning and autoclaving
  • Participate in rotation list for pertiofically on call for 24/7 temperature equipment alarms
  • Perform other lab operations tasks as needed.

What You'll Bring

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related scientific discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years working experience in scientific laboratory and/or operations
  • Ability to work onsite 5 days/week in Soutn San Francisco, CA
  • Experience with maintaining basic lab equipment
  • Experience with managing lab supplies
  • General understanding of Inventory Systems, Equipment Management Systems or Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace Apps
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Good record keeping and attention to detail
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and work independently
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds independently

Pay Transparency

23andMe takes a market-based approach to pay, and amounts will vary depending on your geographic location. The salary range reflected here is for a candidate based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
