University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is currently seeking a Laboratory Research Assistant with previous experience in working with animal models (preferably mouse) and cell culture to join Department of Microbiology & Immunology. The project involves evaluation viral pathogenesis using both in vitro and in vivo systems.
Techniques used by the hired person would involve handling of laboratory mice, injections, euthanasia, isolation of tissues, preparation of cells, sterile in vitro cell culture, protein analysis, PCR, neutralization assays, in vitro drug screening and other assays as needed. Suitable candidates will demonstrate a willingness to learn new techniques, motivation to be part of a dynamic learning environment engaging with students and excitement to study viral pathogenesis. This position requires working in A/BSL-3 facilities. For motivated individuals, opportunities to handle independent projects and/or publish papers as co-authors are possible.

Hiring Range: $45,000 - $55,000 per year (Commensurate with education and experience)
