ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT


Creighton Middle School has a strong tradition of community support and the student population comes from a wide variety of ethnic, academic, economic, and geographic backgrounds. As a student-centered community, we strive to motivate all learners to achieve high academic and personal growth resulting in preparedness and enthusiasm to achieve lifelong success. Creighton is home to a Jefferson County Gifted and Talented Center Program, which comprises about 20% of our student body. Additionally, CMS offers instruction to students who require intense interventions of academic acceleration, pace, affective development, and advanced investigation or enrichment. Our teachers work to provide an effective and differentiated curriculum designed to meet the unique needs and goals of each student. All students are given the opportunity to succeed with school support and the shared belief that all students are capable of meeting the demands of challenging standards. The CMS faculty and staff work closely with students and welcome the personal interactions that occur on a daily basis. Our educational team consists of over 40 teachers, three school administrators, a Dean of Students, six mental health support professionals that support both academic and social/emotional growth, one library-media specialist, and countless specialists focused on preparing students for the challenges of the 21st century.

ABOUT THE JOB


SUMMARY: Support the middle school campus by providing direct oversight of students in a variety of settings, including supervision of the In School Suspension/Detention student work room, support the truancy process, and general student supervision during passing periods and lunch periods.

Hourly Rate: $20.17, Annual Rate: $41,961.92 Effective as of: 08-16-2022


**Annual salary noted above is based on an 8 hour day and full days worked calendar. Any position that is less than a full FTE/8 hours per day or late start will be prorated accordingly.


Certain Education Support Professional (ESP) jobs may include the value of holiday pay into the hourly rate. Review the Holiday in Rate column of the Education Support Professional Job Title, Wage Plan, Grade document.


PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT


The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.

RESPONSIBILITIES


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Support the administrative team, and monitor and supervise students within the In School Suspension/Detention work room (meet and greet students in ISS/D, provide the students a structured classroom environment, including a daily schedule of assignments, monitored classwork, and setting general behavior expectations).

Coordinate the observation and monitoring of students during the lunch periods and breaks.

Communicate daily with building administrators regarding the needs of students in ISS/D.

Communicate with teachers about student work and academic needs. Act as liaison between families, teachers, and counselors to ensure struggling students are supported and connected.

Implement restorative practices, anti-bullying initiatives, and/or student suspension reentry. Monitor and track attendance data; create and/or implement support plans to truant students.

Collect behavior, attendance, and program participation rate data for continuous improvement.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma/GED required.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT: Basic knowledge of student management techniques.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: None required.

SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY: This job does not supervise other employees.

CONTACTS: Daily contact with persons in the same building.

SAFETY TO SELF AND OTHERS: Medium exposure of self to bruises due to typical minor school environment accidents.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to analyze, communicate, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile, and negotiate. The employee is frequently required to copy and occasionally required to compare.

JUDGMENT AND DECISION MAKING: Work is self-directed and assigned is made by Assistant Principal; department administration and central office staff via information communicated through the department web page, email, pony mail and telephone. Must have strong organizational skills and able to demonstrate ability to complete job duties within scheduled work time.

DIVERSITY OF DUTIES: Duties require ability to multi-task own job duties. This position must have ability to maintain organization and set priorities based on daily changing situations and fluctuations in a fast-paced school environment.
