Salary: 130,000 - 150,000/year
This position allows for 2 -3 days per week remote / work from home after training.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controller with a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation to join our finance team. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining effective internal controls. This role is essential in supporting the financial health and operational efficiency of our nonprofit organization, enabling us to fulfill our mission effectively.
Responsibilities- Financial Management:
- Oversee and manage all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process, including working with various departments to develop and monitor budgets.
- Prepare and analyze financial forecasts and projections to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the board of directors, executive team, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
- Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as nonprofit accounting standards (e.g., GAAP for nonprofits).
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise and mentor finance staff, including accounting personnel and financial analysts.
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, providing guidance and support to enhance team performance and professional development.
- Financial Systems & Processes:
- Oversee the maintenance and improvement of financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement best practices in financial management and stay current with industry trends and regulations.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Proven experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
