Controls Engineer - PLC

Salary: $90,000 - 120,000/year

We are seeking a skilled and motivated PLC Controls Engineer with expertise in Allen Bradley systems to join our manufacturing team. This role is critical in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing the plant's automation systems. The successful candidate will have experience with PLC programming, control systems, and industrial automation in a manufacturing environment, ensuring that production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely.


Responsibilties
  • PLC Programming & Troubleshooting:
  • Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC systems, with a focus on Allen Bradley hardware (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, etc.) to control and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and modify ladder logic, functional block diagrams, and other PLC programming techniques for system automation.
  • Diagnose and resolve PLC-related issues in real-time to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Control System Maintenance:
  • Perform routine maintenance and system checks on PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and other control equipment.
  • Ensure that control systems are operating optimally and safely by conducting preventive maintenance and corrective repairs as needed.
  • Manage backups of PLC programs and configuration settings, ensuring data integrity and recovery.
  • Automation System Integration:
  • Support the integration of PLC systems with other automation equipment, including SCADA, VFDs, motors, sensors, and robotic systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to troubleshoot complex automation issues across various systems.
  • Help implement automation solutions to improve production efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance product quality.
  • System Upgrades & Improvements:
  • Lead or assist in upgrading existing PLC systems to newer versions, implementing software upgrades, or migrating to more advanced automation systems.
  • Identify opportunities for automation improvements or cost-saving initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
  • Assist with system testing, debugging, and commissioning of new control systems and automation equipment.


Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with Allen Bradley PLC systems (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SLC500).
  • Hands-on experience with industrial automation and control systems in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, RS-232/485, etc.) and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA systems (e.g., FactoryTalk, WinCC, or similar software) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC programming software such as RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk View.
  • Familiarity with industrial control devices, VFDs, motors, sensors, and I/O systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and control systems, including circuit design, wiring, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with process control systems and integration with other manufacturing systems.
