This is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities, and LCMC Health reserves the right to amend and change responsibilities to meet organizational needs as necessary.GENERAL DUTIESFacilitates and maintains a safe environment for patients and others:• Performs the priority technical procedures required by the area/department/assignment safely, effectively, efficiently, and legally.• Transcribes orders, initiates, assembles, and maintains charts.• Performs receptionist and clerical duties.• Answers call lights, responds professionally to questions and finds appropriate assistance for patients as needed.Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to identify actions to ensure the orderly operation of the unit and improve patient care.• Demonstrates care and concern for customers by striving to meet their expectations.• Follows HIPAA guidelines.• Seeks supervision or assistance when unable to perform effectively or independently.• Uses interpersonal communication strategies with individuals that are intended to achieve desirable, acceptable outcomes/responses and perceptions of satisfaction by those involved.• Enters supply rooms on nursing units as needed to perform necessary job functions.• Refrains from manipulating or removing any intravenous fluids that are stored in the area.Contributes to continuity of patient care:• Compliance with established hospital, departmental, and personnel policies.• Maintains documentation consistent with established guidelines.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS• Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent• Preferred: Experience as a Receptionist, Secretary, or Unit Clerk in a healthcare setting.This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this department.
