Job Description

You will be the electronics expert within a Product Development project team, working on a particular Lely product area on a dedicated basis. Think in terms of products such as milking robots, automated feeding systems, barn products and their associated management systems. When it comes to movement, you know the difference between unloaded driving and the power required to lift a load of cattle feed, for example. You will be working with highly diversified electronic systems ranging from power electronics and sensors to cameras, valves etc. You will give shape to your idea either as a design or on a requirement basis. You will be supported by our suppliers, who will produce prototypes on the basis of your designs. Thereafter, you will build your own testing set-up in our well-appointed workshop (also known as our 'technical playground'). Once you are satisfied that the product works, you will deploy one of our test farms to conduct thorough testing in practice.

In your department, you will be collaborating with no fewer than 250 engineers, all of whom are exclusively involved in the improvement of existing Lely products and the devising and testing of new solutions. Your will be working with multidisciplinary teams to build prototype machines and as wells as contribute to continuous development of current products. You will liaise actively with suppliers, the procurement department and test farms, and you will be involved throughout the chain, from the initial idea up to and including the final product.

Qualifications

  • Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics.
  • Are fluent in English.
  • Have strong planning skills and able to perform under pressure.
  • Communicate within the team.

And do you have…

  • Working experience in producing hardware designs or maybe you are a recent graduate.
  • Knowledge of microcontroller and microprocessor designs.
  • Good understanding of analog, digital, power supply and motor control design fundamentals.
  • Experience in EMC design, testing and certification is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (CANbus etc) is an advantage.
  • Understanding of the Robotics/AGV industries and knowledge of relevant electrical & functional safety standards (e.g. ATEX, UL, EMC, LVD) is an advantage.
