Job descriptionLHH is working with a real estate company in the Milwaukee, WI area that is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage accounting responsibilities for assigned properties. This role involves preparing financial reports, entering accrual and cash journal entries, reviewing operating statements and variance reports, conducting escalation and payable reviews, and performing reconciliations.Job Responsibilities:• Review and process tenant billings and adjustments as directed by the Property Manager.• Oversee and post cash receipt batches, maintaining accurate property cash balances.• Approve and process large accounts payable disbursements and manage weekly A/P report submissions.• Conduct monthly bank reconciliations for assigned accounts.• Verify the accuracy of the Rent Roll and ensure reasonable adjustments.• Monitor aged delinquency reports, applying necessary credits and ensuring correct cash receipts application.• Reconcile supporting schedules with monthly charges and ensure alignment with the general ledger.• Make necessary adjusting entries to the general ledger and confirm with Property Management.• Review financial statements, ensuring supporting schedules align with reports, and submit monthly financial packages for review.• Manage property bank account balances and ensure timely payment of mortgages and property taxes.• Calculate monthly Management Fees and prepare necessary documentation for owner distributions.• Prepare and post monthly rent-up reports and make adjustments as needed.• Assist with prior year CAM and real estate tax escalations, and address auditor queries.• Maintain scanned copies of reporting packages, bank statements, and reconciliations, and upload documents to the company’s document management system.• Effectively communicate with clients, auditors, tax preparers, and team members as required.• Calculate and file sales tax, and close accounts payable, commercial management, and general ledger modules as necessary.Job Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.• At least 2+ years of recent experience in accounting.• Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting methods (cash and accrual), and GAAP.• Familiarity with budget reporting and escalation/operating expense budgeting and settlements.If you are interested in this opportunity, or other opportunities LHH is working on, please apply here or send your resume to: Dan.Hartmann@LHH.com
