Software Engineering Manager

LibLab is an engineering company, by developers for developers. We provide a missing pillar of core internet infrastructure, and we hire people with a broad set of technical skills (and from a wide variety of backgrounds) to build that. We want people who are ready to take on some of the most challenging problems in the industry – from reliably handling millions of API requests per day, to architecting best-in-class open-source SDKs and client libraries.

We work from our office in North West Austin (next to Cedar Park).

About The Role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who will be responsible for managing a group of smart engineers from a human and technical perspective. Engineering Managers are expected to be hands-on leaders who can plan projects, review code, and contribute directly. You will be working across multiple stacks of technologies and will be in charge of building and maintaining the core parts of our platform.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a hands-on software engineer as well as with leading engineering teams and driving technical initiatives. We are looking for a leader who is passionate about building innovative technologies, is customer-focused, and is able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

You will collaborate closely with the product team, ensuring that the engineering team is delivering solutions that exceed customer expectations and align with the product roadmap. You will lead a team of talented and motivated engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship while driving continuous improvement in quality, productivity, and performance.

  • You will lead a team of productive software engineering

  • You’ll recruit, interview, and onboard great people to your teams

  • You will have a high level of autonomy and responsibility

  • You will help engineers develop new skills and advance in their careers

  • You lead by example, by setting the right context, and by helping teammates do their best work

  • You will be technical enough to ask engineers good questions about architecture and product decisions

  • You will weigh-in on several and often conflicting constraints and make rapid choices in a fast-moving and quickly-growing company

  • Architecting and road-mapping our core services

  • Develop engineers on the team, helping them advance in their careers

  • Empower the engineering team to achieve a high level of technical productivity, reliability and simplicity

  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of the engineering management team

You’ll Be a Good Fit If you have

  • You enjoy staying hands-on and close to the code and architecture.

  • You have at least 3 years of experience as an engineering manager, leading and scaling teams of full stack engineers - preferably in a high growth B2B SaaS company

  • You have experience leading strategic company initiatives

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience

Nice To Have

  • You enjoy working on Developer Tools products

  • Experience in writing client libraries and SDKs

  • Familiarity with professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing and operations
