Right of Way Specialist

We are looking for a talented and experienced Right of Way Specialist to join our team in Edwardsville. This position will facilitate the acquisition of property rights necessary for infrastructure projects by preparing legal documents, negotiating with property owners, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. In this position, the candidate will:
  • Acquire real estate and real property rights for various infrastructure projects.
  • Understand real estate ownership principles and appraisal methodology.
  • Arrange and conduct meetings with property owners, presents written offers, negotiate settlement offers, and secures necessary signatures.
  • Interpret construction plans and explain project details to property owners.
  • Act as a liaison between property owners and clients, addressing concerns and clarifying project impacts.
  • Prepare written correspondence and reports and perform data entry into various databases.
  • Manage multiple property acquisition assignments, schedule meetings efficiently, and ensure effective time management.
  • Assist with business development efforts.
  • Track project status, milestones, deadlines, and report assignment status to supervisors and management.
  • Create, file, and maintain all documentation required by clients.
  • May perform other duties as required.


Qualifications for this role:
  • 3+ years of relevant experience; Experience in right-of-way acquisition for transportation and utility projects is preferred.  
  • Licensed Real Estate Broker or Appraiser in the state of Illinois.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a notary public commission in the state of Missouri.
  • Ability to take initiative, think critically, and be creative.
  • Highly organized with strong written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize work-flow priorities to complete work within an established schedule. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally with occasional overnight travel. 
  • Valid driver's license.
